A theater artist who graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory's Theater Department, gained attention while still a student by playing Anna in Cüneyt Gökçer's direction of 'The Diary of Anne Frank' and Antigone in Mahir Canova's direction of 'Antigone'. After finishing the theater department, they joined the State Theater's cast. They worked as an assistant director in Metin Erksan's film 'Suçlamalar Aramızda' ('Accusations Among Us'). Later, joining Ali Poyrazoğlu's theater, they rejected Yılmaz Güney's offer to act and instead served as his assistant. From 1983-1984, they played in 'Güneyli Bayan' ('Southern Lady') at the Ankara Art Theater alongside Rutkay Aziz. They worked at Dostlar Theater and have done numerous voice-overs. They received the 2004 Nisa Serezli Aşkıner Special Award for a Lifetime of Achievement in Theater. A documentary about their artistic life, 'Işık Yenersu: Tiyatronun Narin, Çetin Divası' ('Işık Yenersu: The Delicate, Tough Diva of Theater'), has been made.
