Anjanette Comer, an actress born August 7, 1939, in Texas, USA, to Rufus Franklin and Nola née Dell Comer, began her career with two years at the Pasadena Playhouse. Her television debut was a guest appearance on a 1963 episode of Gunsmoke, followed by roles in popular 1960s drama series like Dr. Kildare and Bonanza. A role in the 1964 series Arrest and Trial earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress. That same year, she starred in her first feature film, the comedy Quick, Before It Melts. In 1965, she appeared in The Loved One. Although she was contracted and even featured in promotional photos for Funeral in Berlin opposite Michael Caine, illness forced her withdrawal. She played a Mexican peasant girl in the 1966 Western The Appaloosa alongside Marlon Brando and John Saxon, and played a similar role in the 1968 film Guns for San Sebastian. Comer's film work slowed after playing Ruth in the 1970 John Updike adaptation Rabbit, Run, something she later attributed to allowing her love life to interfere with her career. Later roles included Fire Sale and the 1983 TV movie The Long Summer of George Adams. In her later career, she frequently played mysterious or exotic characters. Comer was married to Robert Klane from 1976 to 1983.
