Ashley Michelle Talya Tisdale is an American singer and actress. After playing various roles on television in the late 1990s and early 2000s, she gained popularity with young audiences for her role as Maddie Fitzpatrick in the Disney Channel original series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and as Sharpay Evans in the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical franchise. Born in 1985 in Monmouth County, New Jersey, to Jewish mother Lisa Morris and Christian father Michael Tisdale, Ashley Tisdale's sister, Jennifer Tisdale, is also an actress. Discovered at age 3 by manager Bill Perlman, she appeared in over 100 commercials. At age 8, she starred in the Broadway musical Les Misérables and toured internationally with the production. In the late 1990s, Tisdale appeared in guest roles on shows such as Smart Guy, 7th Heaven, Grounded for Life, Boston Public, Strong Medicine, Charmed, and Beverly Hills, 90210. She had a small role in the 2001 film, The Darklings. She also had small roles in the sitcoms The Hughleys and Still Standing. She starred in a T-Mobile commercial with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Tisdale became a prominent Disney Channel actress, also voicing a role in Whisper of the Heart. She starred in Disney Channel's High School Musical, which was a massive success. She reprised her role in the sequels, released in 2007. Tisdale's role in High School Musical involved singing; three of her songs charted on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only female singer to have three songs from one film chart on the Billboard Hot 100. She also rerecorded and created music videos for "Some Day My Prince Will Come," "Kiss the Girl," and "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" for the Disney Channel. Ashley Tisdale's debut album, Headstrong, was released on February 6, 2007, by Warner Bros. Records. The album reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Tisdale was named Blender magazine's "Sexiest Second Pop Female Vocalist." Tisdale made music videos for "Be Good to Me," "He Said She Said," "Not Like That," and "Suddenly." Tisdale's 2008 projects included High School Musical 3 and Picture This. One of her 2009 projects was Aliens in the Attic. Also in 2009, she released her album Guilty Pleasure, which reached the Billboard Top 10 Albums and sold 50,000 copies in its first week. From 2010-2011, she starred as Savannah in the television series Hellcats. In 2013, she starred in Scary Movie 5. In 2015, she starred as Danni in the 10-episode series Clipped. She married Christopher French in 2014.
