Agnieszka Grochowska is a Polish film and theatre actress born on December 31, 1979, in Warsaw. She graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Warsaw in 2002 and began working at the Studio Theatre in Warsaw in 2003. She is a recipient of the 2007 Shooting Stars Award. Her role in the 2012 film Shameless earned her the Polish Film Academy Award for Best Actress, while she also received awards for her performances in The Welts (2004), In Darkness (2011), and Walesa. The 2013 film Hope Man garnered her three additional nominations. Grochowska also gained recognition for her role in the 2009 Norwegian comedy film Upperdog, earning her a nomination for Best Actress at the Amanda Awards, and she received Polish Film Festival Awards for Trzy minuty. Other notable roles include Julia in Just Love Me (2006) and Joanna in Love Waits (2008). She had a supporting role in the 2018 musical drama Teen Spirit, playing the mother of Elle Fanning's character, Marla. Grochowska has been honored by the Polish government with the Gold Cross of Merit and the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis for her contributions to Polish culture.
