Jennifer Shrader Lawrence is an Oscar-winning American actress. She rose to fame with the Hunger Games series. Her performance in Silver Linings Playbook earned her the Best Actress Oscar in 2013. Lawrence started acting in church plays. At 14, she decided to become an actress and applied with her family to a talent scout. She graduated from high school two years early and began her acting career. Lawrence played the character of Lauren Pearson, the older sister, in the TBS show The Bill Engvall Show. Lawrence later appeared in the series The Devil You Know, Cold Case, Medium, and Monk. In 2008, she had a small role in the film Garden Party, directed by Jason Freeland. The same year, she starred with Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger in the major production The Burning Plain, directed by Guillermo Arriaga. For this role, she won the Best Young Actress award at the Venice Film Festival. Her starring role in Debra Granik's Winter's Bone, which won the Best Film award at the Sundance Film Festival, received positive reviews from many critics. David Denby described the film as 'amazing' in The New Yorker. For her role, Lawrence was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress on January 25, 2011, becoming the second-youngest Best Actress nominee in the Academy Awards' history. Lawrence also starred with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster in The Beaver in 2009, although the film was released in 2011. In 2011, Lawrence played the shapeshifting character Mystique in X-Men: First Class, portraying a younger version of the character previously played by Rebecca Romijn. Later, she starred with Elisabeth Shue in House at the End of the Street. The young actress played Katniss Everdeen in the 2012 film The Hunger Games. The same year, her role in Silver Linings Playbook, alongside Bradley Cooper, earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. 2013 was also a productive year for Lawrence. She starred in the second installment of the Hunger Games series. Her performance in American Hustle in 2013 earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2016, she starred in Passengers, and in 2017, she appeared in Darren Aronofsky's mother!. Lawrence's most recent film is the adult comedy No Hard Feelings.
