Ergun Köknar (1934-2000) was a Turkish theater and film actor. Born in Istanbul in 1934, he was the son of theater artist Sait Köknar (1901-1944). He developed an interest in theater during his youth, performing with amateur groups like Genç Oyuncular (Young Actors). He later became a founding member of Arena Theatre and worked for the Istanbul City Theatres. In 1964, he founded the Ordu Municipality Black Sea Theatre. Starting in 1973, he pursued a career in journalism, working for newspapers such as Hürriyet, Günaydın, Yeni Günaydın, Bizim Gazete, and Dünya, becoming a seasoned and colorful writer. He wrote the screenplays for three films and served as production coordinator on one. He also acted in numerous films and television series. Some of his most memorable roles include Adnan Bıçakçı, the billionaire businessman in *Orta Direk Şaban*, and Dombili in *Milyarder*. Köknar died in 2000 and is buried in Merkezefendi Cemetery in Istanbul. He was married to Suna Pekuysal (1933-2008) from 1964 until his death. They had a son, Sait Ali Köknar, born in 1973, who became an architect and academic.
