James Le Gros

Michael Fassbender is an Irish-German actor. He is known for his roles in high-budget films such as 300, Inglourious Basterds, and X-Men: First Class. Fassbender was born in Heidelberg, Germany. His mother is Irish and his father is German. He moved to Ireland with his family at the age of two and grew up there, spending his summer holidays in Germany. At the age of 19, he moved to London to study acting. His first role was as Pat in the World War II miniseries Band of Brothers. In the following years, he appeared in numerous British TV series. His breakthrough into film came in 2006 with his role as Stelios in 300. The same year, he starred in François Ozon's first English-language film, Angel. In 2008, he prepared for his role as an imprisoned IRA militant in the film Hunger by following a 600-calorie-a-day diet. In 2009, he played a British officer in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. In the 2011 superhero film X-Men: First Class, Fassbender played Magneto. He also appeared in Prometheus (2012) and 12 Years a Slave (2013). His role in 12 Years a Slave earned him his first Oscar nomination. He reprised his role as Magneto in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Since 2014, Fassbender has been in a relationship with Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, whom he married in 2017. Fassbender speaks both English and German fluently.
