Amelia Fiona J. Driver, known professionally as Minnie Driver, is a British actress and musician born in 1970. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film *Good Will Hunting*. The daughter of Ronnie and Gaynor Driver, she comes from a wealthy family with ancestry tracing back to Ireland, Italy, and France. Raised in Barbados, she attended Bedales, one of the UK's most prestigious and expensive schools. At the age of 12, after watching *Sophie's Choice*, she was deeply impressed by Meryl Streep's performance and decided to become an actress. To pursue this goal, after high school she enrolled at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, one of the UK's most respected drama schools. Starting her acting career with small roles in British television series, Driver first gained significant attention in 1995 with a starring role in the American-British co-production *Circle of Friends*. Since then, she has appeared in numerous Hollywood films in various roles. Two films hold a particularly significant place in her career: *Sleepers* (1996), featuring Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman, and *Good Will Hunting*, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Skylar. Besides acting, Driver is also a professional musician and has released an album.
