James Dornan, known as Jamie Dornan, is a Northern Irish actor and model. He is best known for his role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series. He was born in 1982 in the town of Holywood, Northern Ireland. His father, Jim Dornan, was a renowned obstetrician. His mother, Lorna, died of cancer when he was 16. He has two sisters, Liesa and Jessica. During his high school years, he was involved in drama and rugby. While studying at Teesside University, he left school to pursue an acting career and moved to London. Dornan worked as a Calvin Klein model for many years before starting his acting career in the 2006 film Marie Antoinette. He later rose to fame through television series such as Once Upon a Time and The Fall. In 2015, he achieved worldwide recognition for his role as the wealthy and charismatic Christian Grey in the film Fifty Shades of Grey. He later reprised the role in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. During this time, he also starred in other films such as A Private War and Anthropoid. He married Amelia Warner in 2013 and they have two daughters.
