Lamar Joseph Odom is a professional basketball player. After playing one year at Rhode Island University, he began his NBA career in 1999 when he was drafted fourth overall by the Los Angeles Clippers. In 2000, he was selected for the NBA All-Rookie Team. Odom played for the Clippers from 1999 to 2003, then joined the Miami Heat in the 2003-2004 season. After one season, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal that brought Shaquille O'Neal to the Heat. Odom won NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. After an unproductive season, he was traded back to the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer of 2012. He struggled to find a team after playing one more season with the Clippers. In February 2014, he signed with the Spanish team Laboral Kutxa, but left after two games. Before the season ended, he signed with the New York Knicks but was released without playing. Odom has three children with his former girlfriend, Liza Morales: Destiny (b. 1998), Lamar Jr. (b. 2002), and Jayden (2005-2006). His youngest child, Jayden, died in his sleep at six months old. In 2009, he married television personality Khloé Kardashian. The couple separated in 2013 and officially divorced in 2016. On October 13, 2015, Odom was found unconscious at a brothel in Las Vegas, falling into a coma and requiring life support. He was found to have ingested a high dose of sexual enhancement drugs and cocaine.
