Orhan Alkaya, who studied at Istanbul University Faculty of Law and Marmara University Faculty of Journalism, wrote critical essays on various art disciplines, political articles, and essays in daily newspapers and magazines. He worked as an actor and director in City Theaters. He was among the thousands of public officials dismissed during the 12 September coup d'état under Law No. 1402 on Martial Law. Besides encyclopedia writing, journalism, editing, and consultancy, the artist also translated cinema films. Orhan Alkaya, whose articles are published in Birgün Newspaper, has six published books. He was appointed as the General Artistic Director of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters on January 8, 2008, but was dismissed on May 29, 2009. Plays he directed include: War and Woman, Come On Kill Me Darling, The Clever Wife of a Foolish Husband, The Master's Voice, Waiting for Godot, The Refugees, The Garden of Humanity.
