Michael Massee (1955-2016) was an American character actor. Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1955, Massee grew up in France due to his father's work with UNESCO. Living for many years in Paris and Corsica, he became fluent in French. He began appearing in films in the early 1990s. However, early in his career, he was involved in a tragic accident. During the filming of the 1994 Wes Craven film *The Crow*, in which he played Fun Boy, he accidentally shot and killed the film's star, Brandon Lee, with a prop gun that was unknowingly loaded. The distress and devastation from this event led him to take a year-long break from acting. Afterwards, he appeared in David Fincher's *Seven* and David Lynch's *Lost Highway*. In the 2000s, he continued to appear in supporting roles in films such as *Catwoman* (2004) and many others. He played Gustav Fiers in *The Amazing Spider-Man* 1 and 2. He also starred in the 2014 French series *Interventions*. Massee died on October 20, 2016, from stomach cancer. He was married to Ellen Massee in 2001 and had two children, Lily and Jack. He and his wife ran a boutique in Los Angeles.
