Rachelle Lefevre is a Canadian actress. She played Victoria Sutherland in the first two films of the Twilight movie series. Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1979, Lefevre's father was an English teacher and her mother a psychologist. She has three sisters. Speaking both English and French at home, she is bilingual. After studying Creative Arts at Dawson College, she took drama classes at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston. She also studied literature at McGill University in Montreal, but had to leave when she started acting. She began acting after being discovered by a television producer while working as a waitress in a restaurant. In 1999, she landed her first role in the TV series Big Wolf on Campus. In 2002, she appeared in George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. After appearing in numerous TV shows and films throughout the late 2000s, she had her breakthrough with the Twilight series. She played the vampire Victoria Sutherland in the first two films of the series based on Stephenie Meyer's books. However, she left the series after a scheduling conflict between the third film, Eclipse, and the film Barney's Version, which she was preparing to film. Bryce Dallas Howard replaced her in the role. In the 2010 film Barney's Version, she played Clara and had the opportunity to work with veteran actor Paul Giamatti. Lefevre continues to work in film and television. The 5'6" actress cites Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Katharine Hepburn, Meryl Streep, and Laura Linney as her role models. Living in Los Angeles, Lefevre identifies as a socialist.
