Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee (1922-2015) was a British actor, particularly renowned for his roles in horror films, notably as Frankenstein's monster and Dracula. He often portrayed mystical and dark characters, gaining widespread fame through various Dracula film series and becoming one of the most acclaimed portrayals of the character, despite a vast filmography. His powerful acting and stage presence were remarkable. His roles as Saruman in *The Lord of the Rings* trilogy (2001-2004) and Count Dooku in *Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones* (2002) and *Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith* (2005) solidified his legendary status in cinema history. Without formal acting training, Lee served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, before venturing into acting following encouragement from others. In a career spanning nearly 70 years, he appeared in over 259 films and also undertook numerous voice-acting roles, known for his distinctive voice. His height of 6'5" (1.95m) and imposing figure made him a prominent figure in horror films. He was knighted in 2001. He passed away on June 7, 2015, in London at a hospital where he was receiving treatment for respiratory and heart problems. His death was announced four days later. He married Birgit Krøncke, a former Danish model, in 1961, and they had one daughter, Christina Erika, born in 1963. He remained married to Krøncke until his death.
