Christine Loiseau

Mehmet Ali Birand (1941-2013) was a Turkish news anchor and columnist. He was the son of Mürvet and İzzet Birand. Born in Istanbul, he attended Galatasaray High School. He began his career in 1964 at Milliyet newspaper. He was a columnist for Sabah newspaper and hosted the program "32. Gün" on TRT and Show TV, and presented the main news bulletin on Show TV from 1992 to 1995. He presented the daily news program "Manşet" and "32. Gün" on CNN Türk and the main news bulletin on Kanal D for many years. He passed away on January 17, 2013, at Şişli American Hospital where he was receiving treatment. Married to Cemre Birand from 1971 until his death, the veteran journalist had a son named Umur. Mehmet Ali Birand spoke French and English.
