Adam Richard Sandler is an American actor. At age 17, Adam gained popularity through some small shows and later realized he was good at stand-up comedy. In the mid-1980s, he played Smitty, a friend of Theo Huxtable, for one season on The Cosby Show. After a show he did at age 17 at his brother's urging, he was discovered by comedian Dennis Miller. At that time, Adam had only appeared in one TV series and on MTV. Miller introduced him to Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live. In 1990, Sandler started working as a writer for SNL, and a few years later he also became a performer. In 1992, he appeared as a drug dealer in an episode of ABC Afterschool Specials. He also began singing, including "The Chanukah Song," and by 1995, his star and film career had taken off. Regarding his music career, Adam Sandler's latest album, Stan and Judy's Kid, became the best-selling comedy album of all time in its first week of release and climbed to number 16 on the Billboard charts. His three previous albums had also achieved platinum status. He married Jackie Titone Sandler in 2003. They have two daughters, Sadie (b. 2005) and Sunny (b. 2008).
