David Livingstone

Hailee Steinfeld is an American actress and singer. She rose to fame for her role as Mattie Ross in the 2010 film *True Grit*. Steinfeld was born in Los Angeles to Cheri, of Filipino descent, and Peter Steinfeld, who is Jewish. She has an older brother, Griffin. She started acting at the age of 8. She was selected from 15,000 applicants for the role in *True Grit*. Her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2013, she starred in two major productions, *Romeo and Juliet* and *Ender's Game*. In 2015, she appeared in *Pitch Perfect 2* as Emily and in *Barely Lethal* as Megan. In 2016, she garnered critical acclaim for her role in *The Edge of Seventeen*, opposite Woody Harrelson. In 2018, she starred as Charlie Watson in the *Transformers* spin-off *Bumblebee*. She also voiced Gwen Stacy in the animated film *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse*. Also deeply involved in music, Steinfeld released her first EP, *Haiz*, in 2015.
