After returning from military service in 1959, Yavuz Karakaş appeared in Ceylan publications' photo-romances as a Native American. He then starred in "Kolsuz Bebek" (Armless Baby), his first film role. From 1960 onwards, he began playing leading roles in Yeşilçam (Turkish cinema). His notable films include "Çanakkale Aslanları" (Lions of Çanakkale), "Kocamın Nişanlısı" (My Husband's Fiancee) with Sadri Alışık, "Gönül Yazar" (Heart Writer) with Çolpan İlhan, "Bir Dağ Masalı" (A Mountain Tale) where he played Türkan Şoray's older brother, "Başımı Belaya Sokma" (Don't Get Me into Trouble) with Eşref Kolçak, "İyi Aile Çocuğu" (Good Family Child), "Şark Bülbülü" (Nightingale of the East), and "İnek Şaban" with Kemal Sunal. He also acted in numerous TV series, including "Sır Kapısı" (Secret Door) on STV, several series on TGRT, and "Berivan" where he played Merdan Ağa alongside Sibel Can. He continues to work. In 1970, he quit cinema after the start of the sex film craze in Yeşilçam and moved to Hamburg, Germany. His daughter was born in Cologne, after which he returned to Turkey. Due to his previous experience as a reader, he recorded two records with four songs. He toured extensively with the very popular Şükran Ay, particularly in Thrace and the Aegean regions for 45 days. Currently, he continues his film work and operates a photography studio with his son.
