Leelee Sobieski, born Liliane Rudabet Gloria Elsveta Sobieski, is an American actress known for her roles in Deep Impact and Eyes Wide Shut. She was born in New York City in 1983, the first child of author Elizabeth Sobieski Salomon and Polish-born French painter Jean Sobieski. She has a younger brother, Robert Roby, born in 1988. Discovered by a talent scout at a New York high school, she was considered for the role in Interview with the Vampire in 1994, but the part went to Kirsten Dunst. However, Sobieski went on to star in other notable films. Her first significant role was in the 1998 disaster film Deep Impact, playing Sarah, the girlfriend of Elijah Wood's character. Shortly after, she appeared in Stanley Kubrick's final film, Eyes Wide Shut, where she performed rather daring scenes for her age, causing some controversy. She also starred in the three-part TV miniseries Joan of Arc and the romantic comedy Never Been Kissed. She continued to appear in significant productions throughout the 2000s. In 2010, she married fashion designer Adam Kimmel, whom she had been engaged to since 2009. They have a daughter, Louisanna Ray, born in 2009, and a son, Martin, born in 2014. Fluent in French due to her father's heritage, she is 1.78m tall. Sobieski collects strands of hair from her co-stars. Her hobbies include painting, horse riding, poetry, martial arts, and ceramics. The Australian music group Primitive Whore created a song about her titled "Why Leelee Wont Love Me". After the birth of her first child, Sobieski appeared in fewer films and in 2016 stated that she did not intend to return to acting.
