Far Moor

Altan Günbay (1931-2014) was an opera and film artist. He is remembered for his villain roles in Yeşilçam films. Born in Konya in 1931, Günbay graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory. He made his stage debut in 1954 with the opera Cavalleria Rusticana and played leading roles in 20 operas, including Othello, Lucia, Carmen, and Salome. He appeared on screen in 1964 with the film Şehrazat. Günbay, who composed the background music for the film Uykusuz Geceler, also composed many songs such as Buğulu Gözler and Bekliyorum. He ended his acting career in 1975, only appearing in the film Beni Unutma in 1982. In the 2000s, he played the role of Haluk's father in the TV series Çocuklar Duymasın. He died at his home on March 3, 2014, and was buried in Büyükçekmece Cemetery. The artist was married to Müveddet Günbay.
