George Butler

Dinçer Çekmez (1940-2013) was a Turkish theater and film actor. He is particularly remembered for his roles in films such as *Şark Bülbülü*, *Süt Kardeşler*, *Şabanoğlu Şaban*, and *Atla Gel Şaban*, all of which he starred in alongside Kemal Sunal. His roles in the TV series *Şaban Askerde* and his memorable lines "Mazlumu getirin bana" and "Şiki Şiki Baba" cemented his place among unforgettable actors. He was a long-time member of the Istanbul City Theatre, performing in numerous plays including *Ahududu*, *Sarıpınar 1914*, *Deli Bal*, *1793*, and *Cyrano de Bergerac*. The brother of fellow actor Metin Çekmez, Dinçer Çekmez passed away on March 12, 2013, at Başkent University Hospital in Istanbul, following a battle with liver and kidney disease and leukemia. A ceremony was held at the Kadıköy Haldun Taner Stage on March 15th, followed by a funeral prayer at Şakirin Mosque, and he was buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery.
