Gregory Martin Daniels, born June 13, 1963, is an American screenwriter, television producer, and director. He has worked on numerous television series, including Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons, adapted The Office for the United States, and co-created Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill. Daniels befriended Conan O'Brien at Harvard University and began writing with him. His first script was for Not Necessarily the News before he was laid off due to budget cuts. He eventually became a writer for two long-running series: Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons. He joined the writing staff of The Simpsons in its fifth season and wrote several classic episodes, such as Lisa's Wedding, Bart Sells His Soul, and 22 Short Films About Springfield. He left the show to co-create King of the Hill, another long-running animated series, with Mike Judge. The series ran for thirteen years before its cancellation in 2009. During his career, he worked on many other series, including the American versions of The Office and Parks and Recreation. In 2016, he served as executive producer of the TBS series People of Earth. Daniels created the Netflix comedy series Space Force with The Office star Steve Carell and also created the Amazon science fiction comedy series Upload.
