Ian Gary

Yakup Yavru (1952-2018) was a Turkish television and film actor. Born in Amasya in 1952, Yavru was a teacher for many years, serving in various cities. During his teaching years, he became interested in theatre. From the latter half of the 1990s, he appeared in numerous television series and films in supporting roles. He is particularly remembered by cinemagoers for his roles in comedy films and the *Sağ Salim* film series. On the morning of September 25, 2018, following the opening ceremony of the 25th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, he suffered a heart attack at his hotel and died in hospital. His funeral was held in his hometown of Amasya, in a grave in Tekirde Cemetery that he had personally purchased and designed a few months before his death. Yakup Yavru had three children: Mert, Yağız, and Yakut.
