Ariel Winter Workman, born in 1998, is an American actress who rose to fame for her role as Alex Dunphy in the television series Modern Family. The youngest child of Chrisoula Chrystal and Glenn Workman, she was born Ariel Fairfax in Virginia. Her mother is a homemaker, and her father is a business owner in the communications industry. Her siblings, Shanelle and Jimmy Workman, are also actors. Winter started her acting career in commercials at a very young age and began appearing in television series at the age of 7. She appeared in shows such as Listen Up!, Tickle U, Freddie, Monk, Bones, and ER. In 2009, she achieved widespread recognition for her role in Modern Family, contributing to the show's numerous awards. Winter also appeared on the big screen, making her film debut in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Michelle Monaghan. She is also a successful voice actress, providing voice work for animated films including Bambi II, Ice Age: Meltdown, The Dark Knight Returns, Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright, and Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
