Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe, known as Boris Kodjoe, is an Austrian-born actor. He is best remembered for his role as Luther West in the Resident Evil series. Born in Vienna to a German psychologist mother and a Ghanaian doctor father, he grew up in Freiburg with his mother's family after his parents' separation. He studied marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University on a tennis scholarship. A back injury ended his tennis career early, leading him to pursue modeling. He entered the film industry in the 2000s, appearing in films such as Love & Basketball. His popularity increased with his role in the TV series Soul Food. He starred in Resident Evil: Afterlife (4th film) and Resident Evil: Retribution (5th film). Kodjoe married American actress Nicole Ari Parker in 2005. They have two children, Sophie and Nicolas.
