Cameron Michelle Diaz is an American actress. Born on August 30, 1972, in San Diego, California, she is the daughter of Emilio Diaz (of Cuban descent) and Billie Early (of English and German descent). She has a sister named Chimene. She graduated from Los Cerritos Middle School and Long Beach Polytechnic High School. At age 16, she signed with Elite Model Management after meeting a photographer at a Hollywood party. Her modeling success led to work in Japan, Australia, Morocco, and Paris, appearances in magazines like Mademoiselle and Seventeen, and campaigns for major companies such as Calvin Klein, Coca-Cola, and Levi's. In 1994, she made her film debut in the action-comedy *The Mask*, starring Jim Carrey. Following *The Mask*, she starred in films like *Head Above Water*, *Feeling Minnesota*, and *She's the One*. In 1998, she starred in *There's Something About Mary*, gaining recognition with this film, which also starred Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon. In 2000, she starred in *Charlie's Angels* alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. In 2001, she provided the voice of Princess Fiona in the acclaimed animated film *Shrek*, reprising the role in subsequent films.
