She is the child of a family that immigrated to Germany in 1971 when she was 6 years old. She completed her primary education in Germany. She lived in Germany, a country with intense integration problems and social issues as a foreigner. She chose cinema as a tool to reflect the drama of Turkish women in German society. She then took acting lessons from a private theater teacher for three years. When she felt ready, she began working as an actress on German television channels. In 1989, Jale Arıkan's first film, "Der Geschichtenerzähler" (The Storyteller), directed by Rainer Boldt, was released. This was followed in 1990 by "Eine Liebe in Istanbul" (A Love in Istanbul), directed by Jürgen Haase, where she played Nursim. In 1992, she appeared in "Der Schattenboxer" (The Shadow Boxer), directed by Lars Becker, alongside Diego Wallraff, Christian Redl, and Ralph Herforth. That same year, she also starred in the German television film "Tatort: Stoevers Fall". In 1993, she played a supporting role in "Maus und Katz" (Cat and Mouse) directed by Hajo Gies, starring Mario Adorf, and also appeared in Theodor Kotulla's "Nacht der Frauen" (Night of the Women). After the 1996 film "Landgang für Ringo", she worked as a moderator on German ARD and ZDF channels during the same period. In 1996, German Stern magazine featured Jale Arıkan on its cover due to her film projects. In 1996, she briefly went to America and filmed "Einmal Star in Hollywood" (Once a Star in Hollywood). She played Naomi in the film alongside Elizabeth Hurley and Dennis Hopper. In 1998, she starred in "Ein Engel schlägt zurück" (An Angel Strikes Back), a film in which German actress Tatjana Blacher played a Turkish prostitute.
