Meghan Hemingway

Born in Istanbul in 1946, Bora Ayanoğlu comes from a theatrical family. His father, Sami Ayanoğlu, was a theater, film actor, and director, and his mother, Şayeste Ayanoğlu, was a theater actress and the first female theater owner. After attending Galatasaray High School, he joined the Istanbul City Theatres as a trainee actor in 1963. He acted in over thirty plays and composed their music. In the same year, he began his career in film acting and composing. Later, he added singing to his repertoire, performing his own songs and writing their lyrics. Some of Bora Ayanoğlu's well-known songs include: Fabrika Kızı, Yunus, Güller ve Dudaklar, Kırık Aynalar, O Yaz, Gurur Duyarım, Aklım Sende, Canım Seni İstiyor. He won four awards at the 1993 Altın Güvercin (Golden Dove) competition. Other notable songs are Reddediyorum, Rose-Marie. His compositions have been released on cassettes, CDs, and LPs. He has composed music for numerous musicals, including 'Çiçekli Saksı Sokağı'. He has composed music for 80 films and acted in 25. He currently works as a music composer for the Istanbul City Theatres. He has a son, Sami Bolkan Ayanoğlu, born in 1973.
