Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, known professionally as Xzibit, was born on January 8, 1974, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. After his mother's death at age 9, he turned to rap music to cope with his grief, dedicating himself fully to it. At 14, after getting into trouble, he was unwelcome at home and lived elsewhere for two years. At 17, he was legally emancipated. After some time drifting, he moved to Los Angeles. In 1992, he met the production group Broadway, which led him to Madcap. He subsequently released the song "Freestyle Ghetto," followed by "Coast 2 Coast," and then "Hit and Run." He attributes his songwriting ability to his mother, whom he describes as a gifted writer. Unlike many hip-hop artists, Xzibit's heartfelt lyrics resonated with his audience. His songs are drawn from his difficult experiences and setbacks. In 2001, he collaborated with prominent rap stars Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre's assistance helped him befriend Snoop, Dre, Eminem, and other renowned rappers. Xzibit has a son named Tremaine.
