Robert Beaumont

South African actress and model Charlbi Dean Kriek was known for her roles in the superhero drama series Black Lightning (2018) and the Palme d'Or-winning film Triangle of Sadness (2022). Dean was born in Cape Town to Joanne and Johan Kriek and spent her childhood there. She began modeling at the age of six, appearing in commercials and catalogues. At 12, she signed with Alfa Model Management and was homeschooled from the age of 14. She also received acting training at the Waterfront Theatre School in Cape Town. In 2010, Dean made her acting debut as Amanda in the film adaptation of Spud, a role she reprised in the sequel Spud 2: The Madness Continues. She also appeared in Don't Sleep (2017) and An Interview with God (2018). That same year, she took on the role of Syonide in the DC Universe series Black Lightning. Most recently, she starred in the Palme d'Or-winning Triangle of Sadness. Charlbi Dean Kriek died suddenly on August 29, 2022, at the age of 32.
