Roger Davies

Naomi Ellen Watts is a British actress known for her roles in films such as Mulholland Drive, The Ring, and King Kong. She received an Academy Award nomination in 2004 for her role in 21 Grams. Watts was born in Shoreham, Kent, England. Her father, Peter Watts, died when she was 7 years old. She and her mother moved to North Wales and later, in 1982, to Sydney, Australia, where she became a citizen. She has stated, "When I think about it, I feel British, and I have very fond memories of the UK. At 14, I didn't want to leave England at all." She began her career in Australia, appearing in Australian television series before landing a role in the 1991 Australian film, Flirting. This was followed by Tank Girl (1995), and then some second-tier Hollywood films like Children of the Corn IV and Dangerous Beauty. Her role in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive (2001) at the Cannes Film Festival marked a turning point in her career, leading to roles in bigger budget Hollywood films from 2001 onwards. She received another Best Actress Oscar nomination in 2012 for her role in The Impossible. Watts, who dated Heath Ledger from 2002 to 2004, was in a relationship with American actor Liev Schreiber from 2005 to 2016. They have two sons: Alexander Sasha Pete (b. 2007) and Samuel Sammy Kai (b. 2008). She is close friends with Benicio del Toro and fellow Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
