Samuel Schneider

Benjamin Burtt, Jr., known as Ben Burtt, is an American sound designer. He has won four Academy Awards. He was born in 1948 in Jamesville, New York. One of Burtt's best-known works is his creation of the sounds for R2-D2 and various sound effects, including the lightsaber, in the Star Wars series. He also created the distinctive breathing sounds of Darth Vader. He contributed special sound effects to the 1978 remake of *Invasion of the Body Snatchers*.
