During her high school years, she became interested in the adult film industry. After deciding to become a porn star, she moved to Los Angeles in 2006. After turning eighteen, she began acting in adult films. Initially, she used the name Anna Karina. Later, she started using the name Sasha Grey; 'Sasha' from Sascha Konietzko, a German rock singer she admired, and 'Grey' because, according to some researchers' doctrines, this color symbolizes sexuality. Grey has won numerous awards in various categories at the AVN, one of the most prestigious porn awards. Besides acting, she also works as a model. She was chosen as the best actress in the 2006 Rogue Review and won several awards at the AVN in 2007-2008. In recent years, Grey has begun acting in more mainstream films. In 2014, she starred alongside Elijah Wood in the film Open Windows.
