Wentworth Earl Miller III is an American actor best known for his role as Michael Scofield in the television series Prison Break. Born in Oxfordshire, England, to American parents – Roxan, a special education teacher, and Wentworth Miller II, a lawyer – while his father was studying at Oxford University. His father and two sisters are also lawyers. Miller graduated from Princeton University in 1995 with a degree in English. That same year, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He made his television debut in 1998 with a guest role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 2002, he starred in the miniseries Dinotopia. In 2003, he played the younger version of Coleman Silk in The Human Stain, alongside Anthony Hopkins. That same year, he had a small role in Underworld. In 2005, Miller appeared in music videos for Mariah Carey's "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together". Also in 2005, he began his breakout role as Michael Scofield in Prison Break, which catapulted him to international fame. The four-season series gained him millions of fans. Following Prison Break, he appeared in films such as Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) and The Loft (2014), and guest-starred in several television series. He later portrayed Captain Cold in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. He reprised his role as Michael Scofield in the fifth season of Prison Break in 2017. Miller publicly came out as gay in 2013.
