Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress. Early in her career, her roles in horror films earned her the title of "Scream Queen." Born in Santa Monica, she is the daughter of Hungarian-Jewish actor Tony Curtis (1925-2010) and actress Janet Leigh (1927-2004). Her sister, Kelly, is also an actress. After her parents' divorce, she was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Robert Brand. She has half-siblings from her father's later marriages: Alexandra, Allegra, Benjamin, and Nicholas. She attended Westlake School, Beverly Hills High School, and Choate Rosemary Hall. In 1976, she enrolled at Pacific University but left after one semester to pursue acting. She rose to fame in 1978 with her role as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's *Halloween*, her first feature film. This role led to many horror films throughout the 1980s, including *The Fog* and *Prom Night*. In 1983, she won a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the comedy *Trading Places*. In 1986, she appeared as an aerobics instructor in Jermaine Jackson's music video for "Perfect." She was nominated for a BAFTA Award in 1988 for her role in *A Fish Called Wanda*. From 1989 to 1992, she starred in the television series *Anything But Love*, for which she won a Golden Globe. She won another Golden Globe in 1994 for her role in the film *True Lies*. She also appeared in *The Heidi Chronicles* (1996) and the TV movie *Nicholas's Gift* (1998). She reprised her iconic role in *Halloween: H20*, the 20th-anniversary sequel. In 2003, she starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in *Freaky Friday*. Curtis has had relationships with production designer J. Michael Riva and musician Adam Antle. In 1984, she married actor and director Christopher Guest. In 1996, upon the death of Christopher Guest's father, she became Baroness Haden-Guest. She has two adopted children, Annie (b. 1986) and Thomas (b. 1996).
