Detectives Gravedigger Jones (Godfrey Cambridge) and Coffin Ed Johnson (Raymond St. Jacques) investigate the case of Reverend Deke O'Malley (Calvin Lockhart), a black preacher who orchestrated a massive con called the 'Back to Africa' campaign to make more money. But when $87,000 of O'Malley's laundered money is hidden in a bale of cotton, Gravedigger and Coffin find they aren't the only ones interested in the suddenly soaring cotton prices! Searching Harlem high and low for the bale, the two detectives get into a fierce struggle with the Mafia, the police, black militants, and more, all vying to seize the $87,000 and eliminate anyone who gets in their way!
