Oscar-winning actress Elizabeth Taylor plays a girl who raises a Collie dog named Lassie from puppyhood as a farm protector. But when Lassie is hit by a car and loses her memory, she is sent to fight the Japanese in World War II. When she returns from the war, Lassie has become a wild and dangerous dog, and the locals decide to kill her. It is the girl who raised her who will correct Lassie's wild behavior learned in war and save her life.
