After losing her parents at the age of six, Frida is taken in by her uncle and aunt and begins living with them. However, having grown up in the city and having had most of what she wanted, Frida will not easily adapt to her new family's life in the countryside. She will struggle to come to terms with her mother's loss, while also trying to find her place in her new family. Directed by Carla Simon, based on her own life, Summer 1993 won the Best First Feature award at the Berlin Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Istanbul Film Festival.
