Ulrich Seidl's Paradise trilogy opens with Teresa, who believes paradise lies in earthly love. In Kenya on vacation, she moves from one beach flirt to another, from one disappointment to the next, ultimately realizing that beach romance is purely commercial. The film focuses on sex tourism, exploring the concepts of young women versus older women and Africa versus Europe, the market value of sexuality, the power of skin color, and the story of the exploited who have no chance but to be exploited. Ulrich Seidl, the award-winning director of films like 'Import/Export' and numerous documentaries, structures his trilogy around the different vacations taken by three women from the same family.
