General Information
Ankara, the Heart of Turkey, is a documentary film commissioned from the Soviet Union in 1933 at the request of Atatürk to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. Completed a year later, and directed by Sergey Yutkevich, it holds the distinction of being the only documentary recording of Atatürk's Tenth Anniversary Speech. For many years, sections other than the Tenth Anniversary Speech were kept hidden. The documentary also features a special segment dedicated to the memories of esteemed Turkish filmmaker Arif Keskiner, who met with director Sergey Yutkevich in Moscow.
