A film tells the story of six people living in Soviet-era apartment blocks, their lives intertwined with loneliness. A young writer stalks his ex-wife and struggles to approach women. August Kask, a barber, develops an infatuation with a young girl, leading to accusations of pedophilia. Laura, a single mother obsessed with a silly soap opera, prevents men from approaching her due to mistrust. Maurer, an architect who believes in the betterment of mankind, neglects his wife, who becomes close to Theo, a cloakroom attendant. The women are attracted to Theo, but his social status prevents them from taking him seriously.
