General Information
Leni and Lazar, two former friends in their mid-twenties, haven't yet found direction in their lives. Leni is mildly depressed and will spend the summer working at her father's pharmacy. Lazar returns to his hometown after three years abroad. A spark ignites between them at a funeral, leading them on a ten-day bicycle trip. While they get along exceptionally well, they don't define their relationship. Navigating the hazy area between friendship and love, childhood and adulthood, how long can Leni and Lazar continue like this? The Serbian film *Haylaz*, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, focuses on moments, tastes, and feelings rather than a straightforward narrative, at times resembling a music video, a performance, and even Terrence Malick films. Mina Djukic's debut film carries traces of the Czech New Wave and former Yugoslav cinema in its approach to youthful rebellion, innocence, and freedom.
