Little Hodja, who lives in Pjortta, accidentally finds a magic carpet with flying powers one day. Having borrowed the carpet to travel the world, Hodja must find and bring back an apple his grandfather wants. However, the gluttonous sultan also has his eye on this flying carpet and is ready to do anything to get it. Hodja, along with his friend Smaragd whom he meets along the way, and his beloved goat, will go through various adventures to achieve his goal. The Magic Carpet film is adapted from Ole Lund Kirkegaard's children's book written in 1975.
