The renowned playwright Antoine d'Anthac, recently deceased, summons through a posthumous message all the actors who have played in his long-running play, Eurydice. His final request of these esteemed performers is an assessment of a new adaptation by a young theatre company, La Compagnie de la Colombe. These veteran actors will watch the younger actors on screen while simultaneously performing the play themselves. This significant director of the French New Wave blends fiction and reality, film and theatre in his final film, questioning whether love, life, death, and love after death still have a place on the theatrical stage.
